ALU Product — Offered as a Public Service

Opening access to knowledge across languages.

Lisaniyat is an ALU product, offered as a public service: an AI-assisted PDF translator for many languages, and a collection of books that are already translated and ready to read. Its mission is to open access to the Islamic scholarly tradition — the works of earlier Muslim scholars and researchers, mostly written in Arabic and long accessible only to those fluent in it.

  1. 01

    Translate

Upload a PDF file and receive a translation into the language you need.

  2. 02

    Read directly

A collection of books already translated and ready to read — no translation needed.

  3. 03

    Share knowledge

Build a personal library and share it.

01The access gap

The biggest barrier is not the availability of knowledge, but access to the language.

Most kitab exist only in Arabic. Official translations cover a small fraction, so knowledge stays concentrated in a limited circle and finding references takes a very long time.

  • 01Language is the boundary Many works by earlier Muslim scholars and researchers remain in Arabic, out of easy reach for most Indonesian readers.
  • 02Material is hard to find General readers often do not know where to find the Arabic literature or PDFs they want to study.
  • 03Reading habits need to grow Valuable collections have to be presented in a way that makes it easy to start reading and keep exploring.

02Capabilities

Not just a translation tool — a reading companion.

04The name

لسانيات

Lisaniyat — the science of language.

From lisān (tongue, language) and the suffix -iyāt, which denotes a field of study. The name echoes classical Islamic scholarship, where language is the key to understanding revelation, literature and thought — and a bridge (wasīlah) of meaning across languages and cultures.

سSin

05The public service model

Note — delivery model

Two ALU products, two delivery models.

RAMES and Lisaniyat are both built and owned by ALU. RAMES is licensed to organisations and deployed in their own environment. Lisaniyat is offered as a public service: ALU operates it and anyone can use it directly at lisaniyat.com.

The difference is not who owns the technology, but how it reaches people — and that shapes what ALU is accountable for.

Why Lisaniyat is a public service.

Some products are best delivered not as a license sold to institutions, but as a service open to everyone. Lisaniyat is one of them: ALU builds and owns it, runs the infrastructure, and makes it available to the public directly.

That means ALU stays accountable for it every day — availability, data handling and continuity — reliably, responsibly and for the long term.

Operating commitments

What operating a public service obliges us to do.

  • Keep the service available and performant for the people who rely on it.
  • Handle texts and user data with care, and only for the purpose of the service.
  • Be clear about what technology does — and where human judgement, such as expert validation, is still required.
  • Plan for continuity, so the service outlasts any single project or person.

Opening the treasury of knowledge.Connecting generations.Bringing benefit to the ummah.

Lisaniyat aims to grow a collection of beneficial knowledge — not only for today, but for the generations that follow.

مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَهَّلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ

“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”

If there is a public need that technology could serve well — and someone needs to build and operate it responsibly — we would like to hear about it.
